The film reminds us of our own fragility, normalises perspectives and encourages us to fight to experience a full life, where our condition, age or physical state do not matter in this world plagued by ever-decaying ethics.

Living and Other Fictions

Pepe has left the psychiatric hospital after serving time for stealing to work. Only the solidarity of Antonio, a disabled activist, allows him to build a fragile life on which to project his weak hopes. Nevertheless, his need to fit in a senseless world becomes a desperate chore. The horizon of his long-awaited “normality" proves unreachable. The relationship with Antonio interpellates his view of life, inviting him to recognize himself as an anomaly and invent a new madness in which to live.

Living and Other Fictions

Despite its false documentary like appearance, Living and Other Fictions is a marvellous cinematographic experiment on solidarity, activism and the libertarian utopias that shape a friendship between two men weakened by life. One seeking his place in society after spending time in a psychiatric hospital while the other, paralysed after an accident, puts in place an ambitious project of sexual assistance for handicaps. Jo Sol underlines the importance of desire in our relation to the world and to our own bodies, the political dimension of sex and pleasure.
