Gábor Reisz has crafted an accomplished comedy that differs significantly from most recent Hungarian cinema.

Áron stands in his life as an average 29-year-old weirdo. He has many contemporary complexes, a fresh university degree, and a recent break up.
His parents have to support him financially as he is still a job seeker and while Áron is agonizing on his lost love, he is always interrupted by something; it seems like he’s not the main character in his life.

Hungarian humour exists. This existential comedy, which saw a great amount of success in its home country, is a testimony to this.

I want to make a film that not only reacts to the current agonies [of living in Hungary], but occasionally shows people of Budapest in a completely documentaristic way, in order to reflect to the lives and problems of the local middle class.
Born in 1980, Gábor Reisz began studying at the Hungarian University of Physical Education before moving on to film theory and history at Budapest’s Lórand Eötvös University in 2003. Then in 2006 he enrolled at the Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest (SZFE) to focus on film and television direction. While at school he shot a number of short films including THE REASON FOR DENIAL, HONESTLY, 8, NOTHING AND GOOD, SOMEBODY’S SOMETHING, and PETER. FOR SOME INEXPLICABLE REASON is his feature debut.
